THE BODACIOUS BOVINE SPEAKS:

Getting more by having less

-------------------------------------

Since I’ve moved into my new place I’m trying a new
experiment: doing without cable. That’s right, no
24-hour news channels, cooking shows or completely
renovating someone’s house while they’re away doing
groceries.

And you know what?

I kinda like it!

Now I realize the first time I have to miss a football
or basketball game with my beloved UCLA Bruins I’ll
regret the choice. But its given me the chance to
check out all those special features on my DVDs, and
to view a lot of the programs I’ve taped over the years.
(I’m a total sucker for Olympic Opening Ceremonies!)

Seems to be a bit of a theme in my life because I’ve also
tapered off on my own product creation. Not that I don’t
have a lot of ideas.

But as I coach people to create their products, I often
find what’s GETTING IN THE WAY of their success are their
ideas. Too many of them fluttering around, an especially
juicy one that always comes around right when they’re about
to commit to the project that’s scaring them to death.
That sidetracks them just as they’re about to get somewhere.

So what I am finding for myself (and my clients) is that
sometimes less is more. Create a few products, but then
make sure you have a large enough audience to make it worth
your while. Pursue a great product idea and then develop
it into a Mentor Group, or a Workshop.

Ideas are intoxicating. But they can also burn you out.

And like I’m finding with my cable experiment sometimes
the key to finding the richness of what you already have
is to avoid filling up your plate with too many juicy
prospects, no matter how good they look.

AUDIO SUCCESS RESOURCE: PART III

“Ask and You Shall Receive”
The Eight Crucial Keys to Requests that Get Results!
Special Bonus &Mac246; Email Template

-------------------------------------

Over the past issues of the latest moos, we featured a
two-part series on how to frame your requests to experts
to get results. And how to do it with folks who you
perceive as way out of your league.

(If you missed it, you can catch up and listen at:)

Well, after thinking about it for awhile, I’ve decided
to add an additional bonus to the series.

results you’re after.

AND SINCE I KNOW YOU’RE WONDERING . . .

Here’s My Own Q&A Policy

-------------------------------------

One of my pet peeves is when I peruse an online BBS and see
people dispensing dime store digital recording advice.

No, its not that I’m afraid of competition.

Its just that if there’s one thing working in this area over
the last four years has taught me is there isn’t any “One Size
Fits All” solution.

When I was a bit younger (and more of a people pleaser) I
would give advice to anyone who asked. Partially, because
I wanted to help, and partially (to be honest) to hear myself
sound intelligent and sophisticated.

What horrified me was that in many cases the very advice I
gave people ended up sabotaging their product plans. Either
it encouraged them to record a product that would NEVER sell
(because they hadn’t done their market research), or add yet
another task to an already full plate.

I’m also embarrassed to admit I’ve recommend processes that
90% of folks could do in their sleep, yet ended up technically
overwhelming this particular person.

The focus of my business is not to throw out fast-food
one-size-fits-all drive-thru window audio advice.

Its to match the best product solution to that individual’s
strengths so they can make a killer product that will make
them more money in less time than they could have imagined.

And I can’t do that in an email. I can’t get to know where
you’re coming from and what you’re good at in 25 words or
less so I can’t give you anything that would be worthwhile.

And so . . .

My own personal policy is that to NEVER give out answers to
equipment questions.

Its not that I’m rude. Its just that there are a lot of
possible solutions out there and I’m not gonna send you
down the wrong road by recommending something that just
doesn’t serve your own goals and capabilities.

Its one of the reasons I developed courses like Record
Your Own Blockbuster Guided Visualization CDs, or 4-Figure
Teleseminars (check the new products section at AudaciousAudio.com).

To assist you in getting started without breaking the bank.

These offerings are inexpensive enough so that you can
find exactly what you need. Often the cost of the product
is immediately returned by avoiding spending unnecessary
dollars on equipment you THOUGHT you’d need to buy.

I would much rather folks think I’m selfish than have
something I told them send them down a road they were
ill-suited to handle.

I would urge each of you, as you raise your own profile,
to consider carefully the advice you dispense, and whether
in the wrong circumstances it might do more harm than good.

And to consider that creating your own audio products gives
you a way to dispense your knowledge affordably, without
risking these disastrous consequences.
